this is esp for the trinis livin abroad...
how allyuh adapt to the new country....food...culture....work type/ ethic....word spelling....accent?
That is a good question...
In the beginning, I rejected everything European, I missed of my life in Trinidad, I even had dreams about it. A year later I cannot say that I have adapted, but I have come to terms with my new environment. I guess like everything else, it takes time and patience. A friend of mine living in Canada told me it took him 5 years to settle, but I guess it is different for everyone.

i had to adapt with my accent.
when i talk to trinis...i talk with my trini accent, but when i talk to others in my trini accent, i talk too fast...so it's hard for them to understand me
there are still hints in my accent when i talk to them...although some people say that i sound like i grew up in the US

Well... I've been acquainted with the Irish life for years.... but spent most of my life in Trinidad, and I have to admit... I still cannot come to terms with some of the things..
The food is bland.. though I can get in an argument on that wise with anyone, but it is... but that doesn't say it doesn't taste good... On the contrary... it does!
I miss the fact that I cannot party, and when I mean party. I mean party... EU people don't know much about parties, and the music they think is cool from the Caribbean is Bob Marley.
During their parties... it's more about talking.. and talking... and standing while music is playing.... One day I got fed-up and I gave the DJ my Soca CD... Well boy... people wine, and who didn't
tried to.... They were like... OMG! I love that music... is that Jamaican steups

Well mine was always Irish-like with a hint of Trini as I speak Gaelic at times, and gaelic is all about pronunciation.
