Pyro

Haven't heard much about it. I really never liked credit unions.

vaio
07-04-2008, 02:48 PM
I never been in a credit union either...

but from what i understand...ppl are making complaints to the Ministry that HCU won't give them their money back.....

Pyro
07-04-2008, 03:01 PM
i just asked a coworker if he heard about it and he said that's been going on for years now. He said that ppl can't even get paid properly or a decent salary in there and that the top man in there has supposedly been using the company's funds for himself. :eh:

vaio
07-04-2008, 03:08 PM
well Harry has a lot of intelligence...but i dunno know how good he can use his brains....

clayfairy
07-04-2008, 03:09 PM
i was always skeptical about them...i dont know why..dunno

Pyro
07-04-2008, 03:14 PM
but it's private so can the Ministry really step in?

vaio
07-04-2008, 03:21 PM
Yes the Min of Finance can step in....even though they are private...

Pyro
07-04-2008, 03:24 PM
but so far they haven't done anything. PPl are still complaining after so long. not so?

vaio
07-04-2008, 03:39 PM
I think that they have started to step in....not sure to what point though

Anna
07-04-2008, 04:23 PM
Yes Pies is right. For a long time now there have been irregularities with HCU. It seems they invested in so much and and lot of it fell through. But I thought HCU was bought over by CL Financial?

Pyro
07-04-2008, 04:38 PM
They did? i didn't even know that. dunno

vaio
07-04-2008, 04:49 PM
No..only some of their subsidiaries were bought over..not the HCU itself....

Harry still owns the HCU

Anna
07-04-2008, 05:01 PM
Ok.

Another thing I have noticed wtih HCU is that they are always changing staff. One minute this person is incharge of this, next time you go back, the person is no longer there. Not a good sign!

I had a small Multipier (high interest) Account with them. Next thing I know no more statements coming. I had to go to the Chaguanas branch to get a one and there and then I saw monies were being taken out for some kind of insurance.

Pyro
07-04-2008, 05:12 PM
wda!!!!!!

you see why i dont trust credit unions. not me.

vaio
07-04-2008, 05:13 PM
Ppl leave there because they don't get treated very good...they are forced to do things against their will...and they don't get a good salary....the hours suck and once there is a function....you MUST attend or get fired!

vaio
07-04-2008, 05:14 PM
annah they took out your money?!?!!? wda

Pyro
07-04-2008, 05:17 PM

vaio
07-04-2008, 05:34 PM
i remember when the Caroni ppl got their VSEP...they invested their monies there....but when they went back to get their money...they were told that they cld not get it back until after some months.....

Pyro
07-04-2008, 05:37 PM
thats real stupidness!!!! why that place still operational? all this nonsense going on.

vaio
07-04-2008, 05:41 PM

Anna
07-04-2008, 06:30 PM
i remember when the Caroni ppl got their VSEP...they invested their monies there....but when they went back to get their money...they were told that they cld not get it back until after some months.....

Yes I read something like that.

See why you should invest your money in a bank and forget them financial institutions.

Years ago it had an Financial Institution called International Trust, a lot of pensioners invested their money, including my grandmother, next thing you know the place gone under, everyone lost their money.

vaio
07-04-2008, 06:40 PM
OMG!!!......i think when you get to be a certain age, you shld only invest your money in financial institutions that are insured with DIC...that way if something happens, at least you will get back 75% of your money!!..

I think that all Credit Unions shld be required to be insured with DIC

Anna
07-04-2008, 06:49 PM
vaio i think even those mutual funds offered by banks are not insured by DIC.

Pyro
07-04-2008, 06:50 PM
you should put it in a pan and dig a hole in your back yard and bury it.

vaio
07-04-2008, 06:59 PM
the mutual funds are not...but investment in a fixed deposit is fairly safe, as they are insured!

pies...tell me where you burying yours....i'll help you bury it :)

Pyro

The building of that financial centre in Chaguanas is a mess. I would like to know who are the contractors?

Usually the sewer waste pipe is run outside.... I see they run it inside, so when someone flushes toilet upstairs... u hearing the waste running in the pipes in the waiting room..

vaio
09-04-2008, 04:34 PM

Anna
09-04-2008, 07:13 PM

vaio
28-04-2008, 05:20 PM
well 4 ppl sued the HCU in an attempt to get back their monies that they deposited there....it was bound to happen

Anna
03-05-2008, 06:01 PM
It is so unfortunate that people have to spend money on lawyers, in an attempt to get back their money at HCU. Why, Why these things happen again and again in Trinidad?

Anna
18-05-2008, 08:13 PM
Any updates on HCU?

vaio
18-05-2008, 08:22 PM
nothing on the news ....but a friend of mine went last week to collect/take out his money from the there and they told him that he has to wait a few months....and this is after waiting for 6months!!! steups i wonder why they not bankrupt yet?

Pyro
19-05-2008, 02:43 PM
OMG u serious?!! o_o dats BS!!

vaio
19-05-2008, 03:02 PM
That is why ppl are suing them....they are trying to sell the twin towers they have in Chaguanas to help the Credit Union survive..steups

Anna
19-05-2008, 04:14 PM
The Twin Towers that was never finished!

I heard they invested in so much property it not funny. For some they paid 3 or 4 times the worth.

vaio
19-05-2008, 06:58 PM
lol yea...those same towers....but they are worth a pretty penny considering that they are located in a great spot.....

but i don't think that HCU has any business sense at all..all their investments really went down the drain lol

Pyro

my dad had some indemnity plan with these ppl (if i had known i wouldve told him to get out of this credit union) so my mother went to pay on it on some day last week. The cashier told her that they stopped that plan since 2005. Well my mother cussed like she never curse before. She say a man was there too and he tell her to cuss dem more.

My dad is speaking to his lawyer today and he's gonna take all his money out.

I seriously didnt know my parents were with these losers. Since 2005 and u stop the plan and still have ppl paying it. :wtf:

I tell my mother to sue dey ass!

Anna
02-06-2008, 06:50 PM
Oh gosh Pies... keep us updated on this!!!

Pyro
03-06-2008, 11:34 AM

Anna
03-06-2008, 12:52 PM

Pyro
10-06-2008, 01:51 PM

Anna
13-06-2008, 07:14 PM
I have a feeling they will not get back their money right away if at all..

I think HCU is bankrupt. You cannot pay back what u do not have...

Anna
11-10-2008, 02:39 PM
Someone told me that HCU is no longer in operation. Is this true?

vaio
13-10-2008, 11:32 AM
well they are going to liquidate the assets of the HCU and pay off all the debts.....somehow i don't think a lot of ppl wld be getting their monies back..but the funny thing is that a lot of ppl still lookin at harry as though he is their god..steups

Anna
17-10-2008, 07:38 PM
I read an article in the Guardian yesterday that there is a call to the government to bail out HCU.

vaio
17-10-2008, 08:13 PM

Anna
23-10-2008, 09:01 PM
And as usual no one in this institution is being held accountable. Poor people has lost their money, soon all will be forgotten, and in the next few years you will see Harry Harnarine head of some other institution in Trinidad.

I tell you it pays to thief in Trinidad!
